Biography

Raised on the river,
trained by legends.

"The boy who sang like an old man" — that's how Seville first knew him, at ten years old.

Born Antonio Vargas Cortés in Seville in 1976, Potito grew up surrounded by gitano art and began performing as a child on the tourist boats along the Guadalquivir River. Word of his voice spread quickly through the city — by the time he was ten, he was already being sought out to perform at some of Seville's most respected gatherings.

As a teenager, he caught the attention of the artists who would go on to shape his career: he collaborated with Paco de Lucía on "Zyryab," and was personally endorsed by both Camarón de la Isla and Lola Flores — a rare vote of confidence from flamenco's defining voices, and one that marked him early as an heir to the tradition rather than simply a new name in it.

He released his first album at fourteen, produced by Pepe de Lucía, and has continued to record and perform in the decades since — never straying far from the roots that shaped him, even as his sound has evolved.
